SSD MONSTER CARDS

Seagate has unveiled an SSD that’ll make yours look insignificant. Unlike other mainstream SSDs in the market, Seagate’s 60TB monster comes in a 3.5-inch form factor; which it claims to offer higher density compared to a combination of two 16TB 2.5-inch SSDs (32TB).

Speaking of which, one should not expect this SSD to be made available for general consumers. Why would we need a 60TB SSD anyway? But, logical thinking aside, Seagate claims that this SSD is able to store about 12,000 DVD movies and up to 400 million photos.

Seagate mentions that part of its aim for releasing the 60TB SSD is efficiency. The company mentioned that companies are now able to reach up to 1 Petabytes (1000TB) of storage capacity by only using 17 60TB SSDs; which is more cost-effective than, say, getting 63 16TB SSDs.

Unfortunately, the read and write speeds of the Seagate 60TB SSD was not announced. Price was not mentioned either, but judging by the eye-opening price of Samsung’s 16TB 1633a SSD, one shouldn’t expect Seagate’s monster of an SSD to be priced lower.
